DIY Face Masks with Honey

May is here! Which means that we're soon to have beautiful May flowers, and also it is my birthday week! To celebrate my birthday week, I have been preparing to publish every day this week. Which means this is the first in a series of five posts that will come your way.

Today's post I will teach you how to make four different face masks using honey. Honey is a great ingredient to use in DIY masks because it helps cleanse pores, prevents breakouts, calms redness, and moisturizes and nourishes your skin. Honey is also a natural antibacterial and full of antioxidants that help reduce the appearance of aging. So here are four facemasks where honey is the star!

Oatmeal and Green Tea Honey Mask

Ingredients:
  • 2 teaspoons of strong green tea
  • 3 tablespoons of powdered ground oatmeal
  • 1 teaspoon of honey
This is a great mask to soothe your skin and reduce the excessive oil production. Oatmeal and honey are very moisturizing so it will trick your skin into producing less oil, especially if you suffer from oily skin like me. This mask will also help reduce redness and irritation.

To prepare, mix all of your ingredients together and apply to cleansed skin in an even layer for 20 minutes or until dry. Rinse with warm water (and exfoliate while rinsing) and pat dry. You can use this mask twice a week for great results. Also, keep refrigerated for up to two weeks.

Honey, Cinnamon and Nutmeg Mask

Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
To prepare this face mask, mix ingredients together until they form a thick paste. Apply to skin in an even layer for 20-30 minutes. Rince with warm water and pat dry. Keep refrigerated for up to two weeks. This mask is used to reduce redness, swelling, and reduce scars from acne. Using this mask will help to soothe your skin and to give it a healthy glow.

Coffee and Honey Mask

Ingredients:
  • 2 teaspoons of ground coffee
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
Do you want tight and firm skin? This is the perfect mask for you. All you have to do is mix the ingredients together to form a paste. Apply in an even layer over your skin for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water and feel free to exfoliate while you rinse. Like the other masks, keep in the fridge for two weeks.

Honey and Baking Soda Mask

Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of baking soda
If you're looking for a mask that will help you achieve clear skin, try mixing honey and baking soda together. This will help cleanse your pores and also help remove blackheads and dead skin cells. After creating a paste with the ingredients, massage into skin in circular motions. Let sit on your skin for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water and exfoliate while rinsing. Keep in your fridge for up to two weeks.

What are some of your favorite DIY facemasks? What is your favorite face mask ingredient? In the meantime, I'll write to you soon.

Love, Nashi
